About Competition

Every year we host a competition, just before summer holidays. These comps are designed to put your skills to the test. We have two main categories with a few other sub cats. Comp is a great way to push your limits and achieve new goals.

For more about comp, please visit this link online which will tell you the details of fighting comp. It's a great video to watch.

Rules for adults (14 and older):

-Full contact on torso. Mid contact to legs. Light contact to head.
-Hitting too hard will result in a strike or disqualification.

   -Approved gloves only.

-Mouth guard required to help protect teeth

Kata:

As part of traditional karate, it is always great to explore everything. This is why we have decided to add kata to our competitions, it allows people to partake in more and do something more relaxing than fighting. We split everyone up into ages and kata they pick. We highly recommend doing the kata required for your grading for best results as doing a previous one at a higher belt makes it harder to gain points.

In kata, we look at stances, technique, breathing, fluency and power. We are very picky in detail about everything in the whole kata and this is defiantly reflected in higher grades. Everything you will need to know about your kata will be shown in detail throughout lesson and through our online videos so you can practise at home.

People will be split into groups of either seniors or juniors followed by their belt kata. This keeps it as fair as possible.

Other categories coming soon.
